Wondering what you need to get started?
Along with your desire to be part of a sustainable and rewarding career that delivers essential services through the provision of safe drinking water and stewardship for the environment, you must possess the following:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Mandatory Entry Level Training – AWWOA provides two options:
- Entry Level Training Course (2 days)
- Level I Certification Prep Course (4 days)
- One year of work experience in a Level I or higher Provincially recognized facility
Once you have the three items above, you can apply to write your Provincial certification exam with Alberta Environment and Parks.
Note: You can still apply for positions requiring certification as employers may hire an operator in the process of acquiring the three items above.
