Congratulations to the AWWOA members who received recognition at the 2025 Western Canada Water Conference & Exhibition in Edmonton
on September 16-19, 2025!


WESTERN CANADA WATER AWARDS

WILLIAM MCKAY HONORARY LIFE MEMBER
Honoring retired members that have made a lasting impact to the industry.
Blair Roy - Blair Roy is recognized for more than 35 years of service with the City of St. Albert, where he rose to Supervisor of Utilities Operations. In retirement, he continues to share his knowledge and mentor others.

H.C. LINDSTEN AWARD
Recognizing outstanding service and leadership to Western Canada Water.
Nancy McAteer - Nancy McAteer has served in many leadership roles, including Chair of the AWWOA Board and President of Western Canada Water in 2018-2019. She is a long-time committee volunteer and was recognized with the Al Reimer Award in 2016.

H.M. BAILEY AWARD
Acknowledging service in the field of public water and/or wastewater works.
Brian Brost - Brian Brost, Manager of Utilities for the City of St. Albert, has contributed significantly to the water industry as both a leader and volunteer. He served on the AWWOA Board, including as Chair in 2011, and now serves on the WCW Alberta Provincial Council and as Secretary/Treasurer of CWWA.

AL REIMER AWARD
Acknowledging distinguished service by an operator member.
Vidal Michaud - Vidal Michaud, Utilities Manager for the Municipality of Jasper, led his team through critical recovery efforts after a wildfire devastated the town. His leadership was vital in restoring essential water and wastewater services and supporting the community's ongoing recovery.

WESTERN CANADA SECTION AMERICAN WATER WORKS ASSOCIATION AWARDS

GEORGE FULLER AWARD
Garth Carl - Garth Carl, a long time professional with the Henry Kroeger Regional Water Services Commission, has been a dedicated AWWOA member for decades. Known as that Association's "Web Master," he later served on their Board and Executive, helping guide its direction. He is a past Ron Bayne Service Award Recipient and was recognized in 2024 for 40 years of membership.

WESTERN CANADA WATER ENVIRONMENT ASSOCIATION AWARDS

WILLIAM D. HATFIELD AWARD
Recognizes operators of wastewater treatment plants for outstanding performance and professionalism.
Robert Kotch - Robert Kotch started his career as an operator in the mid-1980s and worked his way up to become Operations Lead for the City of Calgary. He now oversees all three of the city's water treatment plants and is highly respected in the industry.
