2022 Water Week Workshop #1 - Membrane Plants – Basics of Operation and Troubleshooting

CEUs

0.3 CEUs

Description

This workshop will be discussing operation and maintenance of MF, UF, NF and RO membranes in ground and surface water. In the workshop we will briefly cover water chemistry and its impact on membrane performance. We will be discussing main monitoring parameters and how to implement effective monitoring at your plant. Additionally, we will discuss troubleshooting methods and processes.

Why are we focusing on operation and maintenance and not necessarily on design of the membrane plants? Maintenance and operation account for over 70% of the cost that a water treatment plant acquires over its lifetime. That means in a 25-year period, a plant that was built at 1-million-dollar capital cost will cost an additional 2.3 million to operate and maintain, under the conditions that it was designed, operated and maintained properly.

Presenter(s): Enisa Zanacic, Integrated Water Systems Inc.

Integrated Water Systems Inc. is Saskatchewan based company specializing in design, optimization, operation, maintenance and troubleshooting of the membrane and conventional water treatment plants and wastewater facilities. Additionally, membrane autopsies are performed by our staff to aid in troubleshooting process.

The CEUs from this workshop can be used toward the following discipline(s) for certification renewal:

• Water treatment
